It’s raining cannabis sales in Colorado, which saw record cannabis sales in 2019, and serves as an indicator of where the legal Massachusetts market is headed.
From Merry Jane:
“According to the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Marijuana Enforcement Division, sales in 2019 broke the previous year’s sales record by 13 percent, when the Centennial State sold $1.55 billion worth of weed. The most successful month in 2019, by the way, wasn’t April; it was August, which came in at $173 million.
Since 2014, Colorado has sold $7.79 billion worth of medical and recreational cannabis combined, generating over $1.21 billion tax revenue.
‘People are moving from the unregulated market to the regulated market,’ Truman Bradley, the executive director of the pot lobby the Marijuana Industry Group, told The Denver Post. ‘As Reefer Madness goes away, as the stigmatism of cannabis reduces and people come over to the regulated market, I would expect that trend to continue.’”
If the more than $420 million dollars in cannabis sales that Massachusetts racked up in 2019 is another indicator, Bradley’s commentary can easily extend to the cannabis market here in the Bay State. According to cannabis news resource Leafly, Massachusetts now has more legal cannabis workers than hair stylists and cosmetologists according to their 2020 jobs report, which also noted a triple-digit increase in the adult-use market here.
With all the growth, opportunity, cannabis sales, and market demand, it’s no wonder that more and more investors are increasingly seeking out ways to get into the industry. Private capital placements, sale-leaseback deals, and debt funding are a number of ways motivated investors angling for avenues to thoughtfully place crucial capital into the blossoming cannabis space. 2020 is on track to be the best year for getting in according to industry experts and CNBC.
Just this week, Cannapreneur Partners CEO Michael Scott led a webinar presentation with The Entrust Group, teaching investors and financial services professionals key ways to employ Self-Directed IRA capital into cannabis investments for full utilization of one’s investment portfolio.
