With a packed schedule between NCIA CannaVest in San Jose, and the Family Office Club’s Private Investor Summit and Cannabis Drinks Expo in San Francisco, the team assembled at three conferences in two different cities in California last week and had Golden State cannabis products on the mind.
We naturally spent ample down time investigating various cannabis dispensaries and the consumer-facing goods available in robust, thriving adult-use cannabis market. Those from more robust cannabis markets across the US may bristle at the commonality of some of these, but remember here on the East Coast things are just picking up. And there’s nothing the cannabis curious love more than the introduction to some killer products.
So this week we’re putting a spotlight on a selection of products and brands we sampled with a sense of solemn duty (ahem). Call it understanding cannabis product knowledge for the greater good. Or just call it another day at the office.
But admit it: You’re curious.
PART 3: FLOWER POWER
BRAND: Airfield Supply Co. 24k Gold and Headband cannabis flower
WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW:
24K Gold: “Also known as Kosher Tangie, 24k Gold is a 60% indica-dominant hybrid that combines the legendary LA strain Kosher Kush with champion sativa Tangie to create something quite unique. Growing tall in its vegetative cycle and very stretchy in flower, this one will need an experienced hand when grown indoors. Most phenotypes will exhibit a sweet orange aroma from the Tangie along with the dark coloration of the Kosher Kush, and will offer a strong citrus flavor when smoked or vaped.”
HEADBAND: “Meet Headband, the love-child of cannabis’ power couple, OG Kush and Sour Diesel. The smooth, creamy smoke is accented by flavors of lemons and diesel while the long-lasting effects are great for pain relief, helping you to relax, and to combat elevated stress levels. Many report that the effects create a slight pressure around the crown of their head and feels as though they are wearing a headband. The effects have been known to come on slow, so pace yourself with this potent hybrid.”
WHAT WE WANT YOU TO KNOW: At a tested 31.1% THC, the 24k strain was terpene-rich and delivered a glowing effect that cooled off with sedative powers destroying any conference jitters or over-caffeinated moves earlier in the day. The Headband batch we got was lighter on the terps, but as creamy as advertised, and the sativa side of the hybrid flower was more than present while moving through the NCIA show floor and short walks between the hotel and the local taco scene. Clarity and focus powered by a svelte continuum of anti-anxiety and the trademark “headband” sensation at the onset of dosing.
A LITTLE SOMETHING MORE: As we were traveling it became clear the necessary tools were going to be required for this sampling of the local wares. So we picked up a handy Santa Cruz shredder, made from 100% hemp plastic, that not only reminded one of how hemp is the future of sustainability (it is the only plant that can house you, clothe you, feed you, and increase your general health and wellness), but that having good flower means having a way to keep the product light and fluffy for consumption is just as crucial. Report: It worked.
